Service Description
To receive a clinical diagnosis (often categorized as a specific learning disorder), a Dyslexia Assessor looks for specific criteria: Persistent Difficulty: Ongoing trouble with word-level reading, spelling, and writing for at least six months, despite targeted and appropriate instruction. Cognitive Processing Issues: Core challenges in how the brain handles language, most commonly in phonological processing (hearing, manipulating, and recalling speech sounds).Discrepancy: Literacy skills are significantly weaker than what would be expected for the individual’s overall age, education, and general cognitive abilities. Exclusionary Factors: These language difficulties are not primarily caused by uncorrected vision, hearing problems, or a general intellectual disability.
